At Jumeirah Golf Estates, you can step off the course and into our reformer studio at Pure Motion within minutes. Many golfers arrive at Pure Motion hoping to ease a stiff back or improve their mobility. Before long, they begin noticing something else: their swing feels freer, stronger and more controlled.
That is no coincidence. Golf and reformer Pilates have more in common than you might think and Pure Motion can help you develop the physical foundations behind a stronger swing.
Your swing is a full-body movement
A golf swing takes less than two seconds, but almost every part of the body contributes. Force travels from the ground through the feet and legs, into the hips and trunk, then through the shoulders, arms and club. Each link in that chain must move at the right time while remaining controlled.
When progress stalls, it is natural to return to the driving range and work on technique. But technique is not always the limitation. Sometimes, the body simply cannot access or control the movement the swing requires.
A restricted mid-back can limit rotation. Hips that do not load or clear efficiently can reduce power. A trunk that moves without control can allow force to dissipate before it reaches the club.
You cannot practise your way beyond a physical capacity your body has not yet developed. That capacity must be trained—and this is where reformer Pilates at Pure Motion can make a meaningful difference.
More useful rotation
A fuller backswing should come from the hips and mid-back—not from forcing extra movement through the lower back.
Reformer exercises at Pure Motion can help improve rotational mobility while teaching the body to control that new range. The aim is not simply to rotate further, but to rotate well.
A core that transfers force
Golfers do not only need a core that creates movement. They need one that can resist unwanted movement, stabilise the trunk and transfer force efficiently.
This anti-rotation control is a natural part of reformer Pilates and an important ingredient in a more connected swing. At Pure Motion, controlled, purposeful movement is at the heart of every class.
Hips that load and clear
A powerful downswing depends on how effectively you shift pressure, load the trail side and move through the lead hip.
Single-leg exercises, lateral movement and controlled spring resistance build strength around the hips while exposing and gradually addressing—differences between sides.
Better balance through the finish
A balanced finish is the result of everything that happened before it.
Learning to stay centred and controlled on a moving carriage challenges balance in a precise, low-impact way. That control can help you feel more stable as you accelerate through the ball and complete your swing.
The reformer room at Pure Motion is air-conditioned. Your training does not need an off-season.
You do not need a special “golf class”
There is no golf equipment in the Pure Motion studio, and you do not need to arrive speaking in swing mechanics.
Rotation, stable hips, balance and controlled power are not exclusive to golf. They are qualities of a strong, capable body and they are already central to the way we move at Pure Motion.
If you are new to the studio, begin with our guide to what reformer Pilates is, or read what to expect from your first class at Pure Motion.
Then book a session at Pure Motion and let your instructor know that you play golf. Tell us where you feel restricted, what tends to tire first or what part of your swing never feels quite right. We will help you build the strength, mobility and control beneath it.
Your swing may be practised on the range. But the body behind it can be built at Pure Motion.
